A Fear of the Dentist

posted on 17 October 2012

I am the type of person who is very fearful of the dentist. I will avoid going at all costs, and will justify the fact that I missed a couple appointments and will dread making them up. Did I mention that I devise marketing strategies for dental practices by the way? Yes, it's somewhat ironic as to what my job involves here. Anyway, I recently went to the dentist last week and only had a cleaning and an xray of a tooth that I know there is a problem with because it is becoming discolored. I was pleasantly surprised with the fact that the hygienist was pleased with my teeth, and stated that hygiene-wise they were good. The xray on the front tooth did reveal a cavity and I will be going back tomorrow to have it fixed. I am not looking forward to it as I know I will need a shot in the front of my mouth which hurts very badly. I know I will be glad when it is over, and hopefully will stick to a schedule in the future.More on this Topic: cnn.com | enotes.com | cbsnews.com

The Right Birthday Gift for Me, Palm Pre Plus

posted on 17 August 2012

My birthday was in a couple of days. My fiancé had told me that he could get me anything I wanted. Apart from the reason of giving me an adequate birthday gift, my fiancé was being this generous because he had just received promotion at his work and wanted to shower a little bit of his raise in salary on me too. An extra ordinary birthday gift was his rational (has he put it) way of spending lots of money. That's when I cam across this extra ordinary phone called Palm Pre Plus Verizon wireless. I had never been as enchanted with a phone as I was with this one. It was just perfect for me. It's features were just right, it looked great and cost too much. I asked my fiancé for this phone. He merely grinned at me and didn't even blink an eye over the cost I told him. I have a Palm Pre Plus but there is just one problem I don't have the instruction manual for palm pre plus. I hunted online but at that time it looked like it hadn't been released yet. So I waited for a while longer before I could use my new phone. It was released after some time and I started enjoying my amazing phone and said bye bye to my Nokia E72

A Site For Crafty People To Sell Their Products Online

posted on 7 May 2012

There is a site that I have watched become more and more popular for sellers. Etsy dot com is a great place to open up a shop to sell home-made goods. I found this site through one of my friends who sells jewelry. The site allowed her to affordably set up a site to start her business online. Although there are many web developers who can help you develop your own site, it's really hard to get traffic to your site. Working for a SEO company in Leicester, I know the problems people face getting traffic only too well. That's why Etsy's great because it already has traffic. She can use her own site address to advertise, but shoppers can also find her site through the search option. Although I went to this site originally for my friend's jewelry, I have found a lot of other talented artists and have purchased many things. There is a huge variety of products, including paintings, jewelry, stationary, pottery, and pretty much any other crafty items you can imagine. Checkout is easy through Paypal, and there is a function to communicate with the seller before buying. I trust this site and would not hesitate to recommend it to others to find original work.Other Sources: apple.com | babble.com | huffingtonpost.com | reddit.com

LinkedIn Is Not All It Is Cracked Up To Be

posted on 27 March 2012

All of a sudden everyone is raving about LinkedIn, a business social website. However I did not find it that helpful. The platform works in a similar fashion to Facebook where people advertise themselves in an attractive and easy to navigate site. However LinkedIn specializes with business people hoping to make valuable connections - whether you want to advertise your graphic design agency for example, or actually look for those kinds of skills - that's what the platform is all about. After signing up I had a hard time finding people that I went to university with. First I could not find my school but even after I did not a lot of my peers were registered. I guess that isn’t the websites faulted but they claim to be the business equivalent of Facebook. I do not see the point of maintaining a Facebook site as well as a LinkedIn site. They are both compatible with each other (and many different sites) but it is kind of redundant. I would certainly recommend keeping Facebook and discounting LinkedIn.More on this Topic: bbc.co.uk | enotes.com | cbsnews.com

My Experience and Reflection on Internet Marketing

posted on 14 March 2012

In this 21st century, the internet is the major foundation of doing business. The internet enables businessmen to operate their business in less time and effort. Personally I am a big fan of web marketing. In order to spread my own business I only use Internet and it works more than any other strategy. I prefer SEO, email marketing, and Facebook to spread my business via internet. These web marketing systems are so effective for any kind of business. I have a small business in Florida. Not mentioning the name, I can only say that among the readers of this article (who belong to Florida), over 70% people know the name of my business farm. Thanks to mighty web marketing. It takes a lot more effort to exploit other traditional marketing method, plus it is time consuming and less effective as well. On the other hand, via internet marketing, I can reach to my desired consumer in a less time and effort.Further Reading: slideshare.net | metacafe.com | typepad.com

Google: My Personal Choice for a Search Engine

posted on 10 March 2012

When it comes to search engines these days the first thing that will always come to people's mind would be either yahoo.com or google.com for me I prefer to use Google rather than Yahoo since I can feel that it is a lot easier to search something from Google. Some say that Google's had a negative impact on the web due to the volume of SEO that's going on to please Google's algorithm, but I think it's a good thing - webmasters are becoming conscious of making their sites that much more search engine spider friendly - that can only be a good thing. There are a lot of choices and it is faster than any other search engines out there. The only thing that Yahoo is ahead of Google is that Yahoo has other features in their home page such as the latest news and what are the most trending topics in social networks and something else. But as for the email system I also like google rather than yahoo since I feel that gmail is safer than yahoo mail because I actually experience it before that is why I choose to switch to gmail. So that's why I love google than any other search engines.

Why Ad Banners Will Need to Change Their Game

posted on 6 February 2012

Ad banners are a necessary evil in the online world - they keep the hosting and wage bills of many of my favorite websites paid. Affiliate programs are common place and allow digital surfers to support their usual websites by using their ad banners to give a share of the sale to the website. However, I'm not certain that the promise of lucrative online advertising made years ago during the .com boom still holds up I am of a generation that passively accepts almost any form of advertising and can often blank out the advances of many advertising attempts as simply white noise. As my age group grows up (and earns more money to put into online shopping), the online ad men will have to up their game in order to overwhelm the defenses that World Wide Web users have built up. Often banner ads ruin the look of otherwise stunning websites, serving as a stark reminder that hard times are upon us all no matter the caliber of website. I accept that ad banners exist, I even use them sometimes but I would much rather surf the web without them.Other Sources: nytimes.com | microsofttranslator.com | info.com | tagged.com
