Eminem Recovery, Back to the Oldies

Eminem released his latest album, “Recovery”, in 2010. It had been almost five years since, in my mind Eminem had published a successful album. In 2008 he released “Relapse” and “Refill and Repeat”, both of which were horrible additions to his portfolio. Recovery’s songs brought back the feel of Marshal Mather’s early works, the raw and “I don’t give a crap” mentality. I worked for a while for a recording studio builders and it gave me an insight into the recording side of things - and that in turn gave me a unique take on Eminem's production values, which are strong. These songs and the vibe they give are a fun and interesting to listen to. It was nice to see a favorite childhood musician get back into the game and compete with new artists successfully. My favorite song of the “Recovery” album is “Won’t Back Down” sung with the artist Pink. The song has rhymes and rhythms that are catchy and frankly genius. The line “I'm an uncooked slab of beef laying on your kitchen floor other words I'm off the meat rack” is that clever Eminem verse that brings us back to his early days but with today’s sound. This captures the heart of his old fans while bringing in newer generations. I hope to see Eminem produce more records like “Recovery” for many more years to come his use of beats, rhythms, catchy phrases, and witty punch lines show that he is more than just a musician but truly and artist.More on this Topic: digg.com | infoplease.com | ca.gov | archive.org
